Summary

Biography

Name: Ray “Raylin” Lee
Year: 5th Year Undergrad / 1st year Masters
Hometown: Patterson, CA
Major: Neuroscience / Education
Racing since: 2012

What brought/brings you into cycling?

Favorite race?

Anything flat. But I especially liked the 805 Crit Weekend for the amazing organization. The race directors also picked out some great courses that were both interesting and safe; a difficult thing to do.

Biggest mistake before a race?

Regging for anything with climbing. Also not sleeping enough is another soul crusher.

What is your pre-ride/race ritual, if any?

Working towards the omNOMnium championship by munching on whatever food I have at the start line. What are you looking forward to this upcoming season? Meeting new riders and seeing current teammates grow and develop. Also getting more sleep.

Describe your favorite training ride (preferably a la SNL’s skit "The Californians”):

Topanga + Old Topanga. Short and fun ride with a nice flat run up, two solid climbs, and two fun and safe descents.

Best burrito place?

Ernie’s Taqueria in Patterson. Tita’s Pupuseria is a close second.

Best coffee place?

Café Luxxe

Other interests?

Being a troll. There’s also this teaching thing too.

Any final ruminations, musings, or meditations?

Words of wisdom: Recovery >>> Training. When you train, you actually get weaker. Your body and your muscles break down and you fatigue. The getting stronger part only comes from recovering and rebuilding by destressing, eating, and sleeping.
