Summary

Biography

Before transferring to UCLA in 2016, Julio Alvarado wrestled for Cathedral City High School, where he was a 2-time team MVP and a CIF champion in 2013. After transferring to Westwood from community college, Alvarado walked on to UCLA Rowing and became a staple of the Novice 8. He was a vital piece of the boat that beat UC Santa Barbara twice and outsprinted Notre Dame for 1st place at the ACRA B finals in 2017. At season's end he was elected Social Chair by his teammates. In his second year with the team Alvarado has already raced in the Varsity 8+ at Head of the American and the Ballona Creek Grand Prix, competing strongly with UC Santa Barbara. Julio hopes to make the most of his senior season and win some hardware for the Bruins this spring.
