Last Friday, the Bruins traveled down to Anaheim for game 3 of the crosstown cup series with a 2 games to none lead and looking to sweep the USC Trojans on their home ice. However, it was clear from the opening puck drop that this would be no easy task. USC came out firing and would take a 4-2 lead into the third period. The Bruins battled back to make it 4-3 with under five minutes left, but time would run out before they could find the tying goal. This set the stage for game 4, back at the Bruins home rink in Burbank, looking to secure the cup once more.

Saturday afternoon would be one to remember for the Bruins. This was senior night for UCLA and in front of a sellout crowd, including an extremely vocal student section, the game was all tied at three going into the third and final period. It was UCLA who came out of the locker room with more energy. A shot from the point led to a scramble in front of the Trojans net with senior president
Jacob Muller finding the loose puck and sliding it into the back of the net to give the Bruins a 4-3 lead with 14 minutes left to play. The Bruins would lock down defensively for the rest of the third as freshman goaltender
Matt Bohdan stood strong between the pipes. USC was forced to pull their goalie with two minutes left to get an extra attacker to try to tie it. Just 30 seconds later, USC would attack the net with numbers, ultimately over powering the Bruins' defense and tying the game at 4. It looked as if the game was bound for overtime until an icing call led to a faceoff in the Trojans' defensive zone with just 15 seconds left in the game. Freshman
Evan Rittenhouse would win the crucial faceoff back to junior captain
Nicholas Katzaroff who rifled a shot from the blue line right past the USC goalie to clinch the win for the Bruins with just 4.1 seconds left on the clock. The sellout crowd exploded as they realized the team would be bringing the Crosstown Cup trophy back to Westwood for the first time in five years. After one final faceoff to run out the clock, sticks and gloves were sent flying into the air in celebration as the team leaped over the boards and poured onto the ice.
Jacob Muller sprinted over to the bench to grab the cup, raised it high, and was immediately surrounded by his teammates all trying to grab hold of the cup that had eluded them the past few seasons.

Up next for UCLA includes a couple of road games at UC Berkeley and San Jose State before traveling to Lake Tahoe for the Pac-8 playoffs. Good luck Bruins!
