Tryout Information

Tryouts for the 2024-2025 school year have concluded.

For those interested in joining, tryouts are usually the first week of Fall Quarter.

UCLA Club Gymnastics members have widely diverse backgrounds including gymnasts of all levels, cheerleaders, divers, and those with a parkour or tricking background. We highly encourage everyone to attend; however, all members must be able to demonstrate basic strength, flexibility, and skill requirements in a safe and controlled manner.  We also recommend people to show other skills if they can do so safely as we are interested in building a team with a diverse skill set. 

Here are some general requirements:
  •     Flexibility: pike toe-touch, bridge, straddle stretch to elbows
  •     Strength: pull-over, 20 V-ups, 15 push-ups
  •     Tumbling: cartwheel, handstand, round-off back handspring, front tuck

Please note that the above requirements do not guarantee a spot on the team, but rather represent the minimum strength, flexibility, and tumbling needed. Our team's average level is between USAG Levels 7 and 8, with several members having experience in higher levels. Nonetheless, we are interested in passion above everything else, are encourage you to attend tryouts with as much excitement as possible.

UCLA Recreation Center also offers beginning and intermediate gymnastics classes for those who are interested in gymnastics but would like to build a stronger foundation before joining the club team. Recreation also offers open recreation gymnastics three times a week.
