Quadball is the sport formerly known as “Quidditch”. Quadball is a mixed gender, contact sport that combines the best of rugby, basketball, and dodgeball – all while holding brooms between our legs. Keepers and Chasers attempt to score on the other teams’ three hoops with a volleyball, and Beaters use dodgeballs to knock people out of play. Inspired by Xander Manshel of Middlebury College and the first adaptation of JK Rowling's fantasy broomstick sport, then-freshman Tom Marks brought Quidditch to Westwood in 2009. UCLA Quadball is a tight-knit community and highly competitive on a regional and national level.
We became an official UCLA Club Sport in 2010 and took off from there. In the 2012-2013 season, UCLA Quadball debuted a second rookie team (the Wizards of Westwood). UCLA Quadball has competed at a national level every year since our creation. With consistent elite eight runs, UCLA Quadball most notably placed second in World Cup VI in 2013 and was the runner up for the Collegiate D2 division in 2024.
All are welcome to join our Bruin Quadball family and we are happy to teach our unique sport to you! If you would like to find out more, feel free to find us on social media (@ UCLAQuadball) or feel free to stop by any practice!
