Bruins Fall to Dartmouth on the Road

HANOVER, N.H. — UCLA Men's Rugby suffered a disappointing 50–26 loss to Dartmouth on Saturday at Brophy Rugby Field, as the Bruins were unable to match the hosts' intensity across 80 minutes in their final FirstPoint USA Scholars Cup fixture.

Following a demanding trip across the country, UCLA faced a challenging environment in Hanover. However, the Bruins were unable to overcome the travel demands or find the consistency and intent required to compete against a strong Dartmouth side on its home field.

Despite scoring 26 points, UCLA struggled to establish control of the contest, with Dartmouth capitalizing on the Bruins' shortcomings to build a commanding total. The visitors showed glimpses of their attacking potential, but those moments were not enough to offset a performance that lacked the sustained urgency, physicality and discipline required at this level.

For a UCLA program that has made strides throughout the season, the result was a frustrating step backward. The Bruins will need to take an honest assessment of their performance, particularly their ability to bring the right mindset and competitive edge regardless of the circumstances surrounding a match.

With the regular season approaching its conclusion, the focus now shifts to responding on the training field and translating that work into a more complete performance on game day. Opportunities remain for UCLA to strengthen its position heading toward the postseason, but the response to Saturday's defeat will be just as important as the result itself.

The Bruins return to Westwood with plenty to reflect on and a clear challenge ahead: rediscover the intent, commitment and execution required to finish the season strongly.
