Winter Quarter with Club Gymnastics

The Bruins are halfway through winter quarter and are looking forward to the upcoming competition season. The new year calls for new skills, floor routines, and meets! This season, we have several to look forward to. This past week, we had our first intersquad where the Bruins showcased their well-prepared routines to friends, family, and fellow teammates. In just a couple of short weeks, we will be traveling to Phoenix, Arizona for Regionals and later in the year Albuquerque, New Mexico for Nationals. We will also be taking our skills down the coast to San Diego to compete with our fellow Southern California teams. To get our entire team to all these meets, we have officially launched our spark campaign! This fundraising event is an opportunity for friends, family, and supporters of club gymnastics to help the Bruins compete this season. The campaign is still live for over a week and the link is in the bio on our Instagram. Every competition season is an exciting time of year where the love for this club team is particularly strong.
In addition to our enthusiasm for the season, one of our gymnasts has spread the club sports love even further. Aaron Doyle, our co-president, helped organize the club sports dodgeball tournament in November. Along with other athletes on the club sports executive council, he hosted the tournament and a canned goods drive where the items were then donated to the community programs office here at UCLA. Aaron and his peers collected over 200 canned items and successfully pulled off a great way for the club sports community to give back! Aaron says he is "excited to continue to engage with the club sports community in a meaningful way". Make sure to stay tuned for more philanthropy events with CSEC in the future.
We expect a successful season with the help of our quickly adjusting and talented new members. The past quarter and a half have been filled with upgrades and preparation for our full competition schedule this year. Our co-president, Joshua Lim, is known for his performances at the D1 gymnastics meets, but on this team, he is known for his incredible choreography skills! The Bruins could not be more excited to showcase these captivating new floor routines in the coming months. Although we are already halfway through the quarter, the best and busiest weeks are yet to come for our UCLA club gymnasts.
