UCLA Wushu To Host 25th Annual Wushu Collegiate Competition

On Saturday, April 6th, 2024, collegiate wushu clubs from all over the nation will come together in Collins Court at the John Wooden Center in UCLA for the 25th Annual Collegiate Wushu Tournament!

The Annual Collegiate Wushu Tournament, commonly referred to as "Collegiates", was created and hosted by the University of Oregon in 1997, organized by Brandon Sugiyama. This event was the first in the US to feature a team competition, with the UCLA Wushu team competing alongside students from Oregon, UC Berkeley, Stanford, and University of Arizona. Today, the tournament draws in competitors and wushu enthusiasts from college campuses all across the country. With the generous help of our Spark campaign patrons, we are hosting this year's National Collegiate Wushu Tournament in UCLA!

Each year, collegiate clubs bid for the coveted position of hosting -- to serve as a hub for hundreds of students to come together and celebrate a shared passion for wushu and thier progress throughout the year. This year, we will be hosting upwards of 25 collegiate wushu teams and three separate competition rings. Judges are invited from up and down the coast, each with extensive backgrounds in wushu.

Admission will be free for all audiences, so drop by on April 6th starting 8AM throughout the day to watch these amazing athletes compete!
