Paul McCarthy graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2000 with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science, Administration and Coaching he went on to study at Indiana University and graduated in 2007 with Master’s Degrees in Applied Sports Science and Athletic Administration & Sport Management.
He began his martial arts career in England, where he gained rank in Western Kickboxing. During his time with the Indiana University Martial Arts Program he began training Hapkido and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and received his Hapkido black belt in 2004 (promoted to 3rd degree in 2011), while also receiving a Black Belt in Taekwondo in 2006.
While finishing his Masters at Indiana University he was an Assistant Instructor for Jeet Kune Do and Kali Escrima classes and is a certified instructor in Jun Fan Gung Fu, Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts under Guro Dan Inosanto. Mr. McCarthy also holds Instructor rank in other hybrid martial arts systems, he is an Associate Instructor in Martial Concepts under Dr. Jason Winkle and an Apprentice Instructor with Kombat Science and Tactics under Guro Keith Davis he also holds a Red Glove rank in ‘Boxe Francaise’ Savate under Nicolas Saignac and competes several times a year.
