Facing a 21–10 deficit at halftime, the Bruins looked up against it after a physical and fast-paced opening 40 minutes. Cal Poly capitalized early against the run of play, while UCLA showed flashes of promise but struggled to fully convert opportunities into points at times.
What followed in the second half, however, was a testament to the character of this UCLA side.
The Bruins shut the door defensively, holding Cal Poly scoreless over the final 40 minutes while mounting a relentless comeback.
