On Saturday February 11th, UCLA Wrestling traveled to Elk Grove Wrestling Academy to face various NCWA opponents, with five wrestlers placing.

This tournament was the first under Coach Dave's tenure, and the first tournament after a hiatus for the past 3 years.
Despite this, UCLA wrestling had a dominant performance, with four wrestlers placing first and an additional wrestler placing fourth.Â
The women had a day to remember, with Alysa Phattanaphibul (116), Paige Beals (143), and Mikayla Silverman (155) all earning first in their respective brackets. As for the men, Isaiah Duran (141) put up a particularly impressive performance, pinning all his opponents and earning first place in his bracket. Additionally, Jack Shea (157) earned fourth in a particularly crowded and competitive weight class.Â
In a statement from Coach Dave, he applauded the team's performance. In his words, "The team represented itself well at our first meet of the season. I was very proud of how they performed headed into our conference tournament."
Congratulations to everyone who came out and competed, and good luck to all our wrestlers competing in Vegas!Â
