Lacrosse Battles to Split the Week

Lacrosse Battles to Split the Week

UCLA Men's Lacrosse finished a challenging three day home stand 1-1, with a loss to top ranked #3 BYU, but rebounded with a convincing win over #12 Sonoma State.

BYU came to town Wednesday night to play the Bruins under the lights in Wallis-Annenberg Stadium and it was not a great start or finish for the Bruins. The BYU team is ranked #3 in the MCLA and they showed why starting off in a flurry with 4 goals in the first 12 minutes. The Bruins scored in the end of the quarter bringing the score to 4-1 but the Cougars went on a run and never looked back finishing the game with a final score BYU 17- UCLA 5.

After a day of rest and putting that game behind them, the Bruins came out firing Friday night in Annenberg on "ONE LOVE NIGHT" and took control from the first whistle against a very gritty Sonoma State.  The game stayed close until midway through the 2nd quarter when the Bruins took control and scored 8 un-answered goals to lead at halftime 10-2. The game was never in doubt and the Bruins rolled to a 18-8 victory.  In this game, both the Bruin offense and defense put on a great show for all our fans out hustling Sonoma State up and down the field.  A great night in front of 350 plus in attendance at Wallis-Annenberg Stadium.

The Bruins take on UCSB next before hosting the Pac-12 Shootout on President's Day Weekend.  More info to come soon!
