The Bruins tamed the Lions in season exhibition game.

UCLA club women's basketball blew past Loyola Marymount 90-25.

The Bruins opened the game with high intensity and pressure, making sure to run the floor and press from the tip.

Second-year forward Marianna Martinez summarized the teams strategy against LMU.

"Our game plan was to push when we see the other team lagging," Martinez said. "We played our game, we played fast and we kept pushing the whole time."

UCLA outscored LMU in the first half 50-18.

Second-year guard Shelby Mitchell said the Bruins stay motivated to play hard because of their great chemistry and hard work ethic in and outside of basketball.

"Chemistry wise, we do a lot of team activities," Mitchell said. "We do a lot of things together outside of basketball."

Mitchell said the team's plethora of skills from each position has lifted UCLA's level of play.

"We have a lot of diversity whether its guards or bigs," Mitchell said. "It is a confidence booster because we (have) seen a lot of people so far. ... We have the ability to compete with different teams at different levels."

UCLA plans on using their confidence, pace and chemistry to gear up and take on USC on Feb. 23.
