Club Hockey sweeps Trojans in 2-game set; winning 12-2 & 6-3

UCLA Club Hockey took on USC this past Thursday and Friday, winning both contests, and scoring three times the goals (18) that the Trojans put past goalies Matt Bohdan and Alan McIver (5).

On Thursday, UCLA's scoring onslaught included 7 different players who found the back of the net, highlighted by forwards Justin Kaufman and Evan Rittenhouse, who themselves combined for 6 goals. UCLA had control for the entire 12-2 rout, with USC's lone goals coming at first when down by 4 goals and then again when down by 9.

On Friday, the Trojans kept the match tighter, even tying the game in the third period, before the Bruins eventually won by 3 goals. Leo Gretzinger scored twice, while Aaron Minkov added a buzzer-beater goal to conclude the first period that helped knock off UCLA's crosstown rivals. Gretzinger's first goal of the game came on an assist from Cameron Khuong as he caught the puck behind his back, dropped it on the ice and then lasered a shot into the top left corner of the net. With 7 goals now on the season, Gretzinger has proven to be a reliable offensive weapon for the Bruins.

Club Hockey will be in action again for a four-game set against UC Berkeley between January 11th and 12th.
