Women's Ultimate Closes Out Opening Week with a W

It was the first tournament for the Women's Ultimate B-team, Midas, as they faced off in four games over the weekend (1/13 - 1/14). The team, competing after just one week of practice, lost some hard fought battles in the three games they played on Saturday but finished off with a solid victory over UC Davis on Sunday. Having played four games over the weekend.

It was definitely a learning experience for the team but things look promising for Women's Ultimate B-team. Overall, the team feels good about the direction it is moving in. Recognizing and making the adjustments it needs to, but also feeling confident about the chemistry they're building. Many of the players are returning players with quite a few new recruits so although there is room for improvement, the potential is infinite for this young squad. By the end of the weekend, it was apparent the strides they began making as a team.

Jenny Shintaku, a rookie on the team, stated, "Sb quals was my first tournament and even though I did not get a lot of playing time, it was a great learning experience and I was able to bond with my fellow teammates. I learned the importance of spirit especially when each team has to give a cheer for the other team at the end of the match. I also enjoyed learning and failing to say the correct words to our own Midas chants"

The team is captained by Grace Hubrig, Samantha Rustia, and Angela Lin. Angela Lin stated that, "we're developing a lot of new players [with those] from previous years and really focusing in on their skill sets and how they can be contributing to the team/ as well as how each player plays with each other."
