Year in Review: Ski and Snowboard

Freezing cold, steep slopes, and lots of adrenaline. These phrases can all be used to describe the UCLA Ski and Snowboard club, a team of students competing in one of the most extreme sports the campus has to offer. The squad had a solid season from start to finish in the 2015-2016 year as a team and as individuals.

The UCLA Ski and Snowboard Club competed with class and determination throughout their competitions. Liam Carrigan and Rebecca Albright were the two shining stars during the season, as they placed highly in multiple races throughout the year and most notably in both the Men's and Women's Ski Freestyle!

While the dynamic of the club allows for individual, as well as team achievement during their races, the club is all about teamwork and camaraderie as a whole. As competitive as they are, the club members also realize that being a part of UCLA Club Sports is more than just an activity, but an experience within itself.

Senior Matt Burke shed his opinion on the most rewarding aspects of the club:

"It's really about all the people you meet and making the trips up to Mammoth mountain. Not only did our team bond well over these trips, but we also got to meet and hang out with students from other schools in our league" he said.

"The skiing and snowboarding for 14 days as part of our season isn't that bad either. The camaraderie on our team is real. Everybody loves each other."

As the Ski and Snowboard Club continues to place well and keep its members involved and together, the program will undoubtedly progress and heighten its competitiveness to even higher levels. With a few more league victories and wins under its belt; the sky is truly the limit for the program.
