Four of the best intramural flag football teams, each representing spirited campus organizations, took to the IM field Friday afternoon for the Independent Men's B and Independent Co-Rec playoff games. The winning teams received highly coveted championship T-shirts.

The cleverly-titled Kickin Asphalt, playing for the ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Bruins, went up against Taylor Switten in the Independent Men's B final and captured the IM title, winning with a narrow 19 points to Switten's 18. Characterized by suspenseful alternating touchdowns, both teams were urged on from the sidelines by supporters and teammates. The game was neck-and-neck for the entire hour, making victory that much sweeter for the Civil Engineers.

Immediately afterward, We Want the Ship (WWTS) went head to head with the Asian American Christian Fellowship (AACF) in the Independent Co-Rec playoff. WWTS proved its dominance early on, boasting a formidable offense and ultimately defeated AACF 41-9. The AACF, however, was not to be underestimated; the team fought valiantly, with players sprinting to take down the opposition. By subbing in several players throughout the course of the game, AACF displayed tireless strategy and emphasized the inclusive, engaging atmosphere of intramural sports.

In true Bruin fashion, a large turnout of spectators braved the atypically chilly weather to cheer on their friends and coworkers. Whether you're in the stands or on the field, Friday's games demonstrated that everyone can enjoy the excitement of IM competitions.
